Hotel Barter for Influencers: How to Get a Free Hotel Stay and What to Shoot

A hotel stay in exchange for content is one of the most sought-after barter formats. The hotel needs beautiful shots and genuine reviews; the creator gets a trip and strong material for their account. Here's how it works and what to know in advance.
What an offer usually includes
Most often it's one night with breakfast on a weekday or in the off-season. Other formats exist too:
- a weekend at a country hotel or glamping site;
- a day visit: pool, spa and lunch without an overnight stay;
- a spa programme or dinner at the hotel restaurant;
- a stay for two – if the offer says +1.
On INVITN all of this is spelled out in the offer upfront: what's included, which dates, how many people and what content is expected in return.
What the hotel looks at
A hotel doesn't choose by follower count but by whether the right audience will see it:
- Real engagement. Stories and Reels views matter more than a large number of followers.
- Your style. Travel, lifestyle, family holidays, couples – every hotel has its own guest.
- Where your audience lives. A hotel outside Moscow cares about followers from Moscow; a resort hotel cares about the cities its guests travel from.
- Past work. Neat interior shots and honest reviews of other places.
What to shoot
- The room in daylight with natural light: the bed, the window, the view, the bathroom.
- Breakfast – one of the most-saved shots.
- Facilities: pool, spa, restaurant, grounds.
- Your mood: the morning, the sunset, a walk – the reason people go there in the first place.
Good practice: tag the hotel and add a geotag in every Story, then save them to your highlights.
Etiquette
- Arrive at the agreed time and give notice of any changes in advance.
- Don't ask for more than the offer says.
- Post your content on time – on INVITN links are submitted right in your account.
- Be honest: audiences trust genuine impressions.
